Direct or One-Stop to Thailand?
Non-stop to Bangkok
Three airlines fly non-stop from the UK to Bangkok in business class: Thai Airways and EVA Air from London Heathrow, and British Airways from London Gatwick. The flight takes around 11 hours 50 minutes, usually departing London in the evening and landing mid-afternoon the next day, so you sleep through and wake on Thai time. Thai's Royal Silk business class is the benchmark on the route and connects onwards to the islands; EVA's Royal Laurel is a Skytrax 5-star product continuing to Taipei. BA's Gatwick service goes year-round from summer 2026, running three times a week in summer and six times a week in winter.
One stop via the Gulf or Asia
One-stop routings often carry the lowest fares and, from any airport outside London, they are the only option. Qatar Airways connects via Doha with the Qsuite on selected aircraft, Emirates via Dubai from seven UK airports, Singapore Airlines via Singapore, EVA Air via Taipei and Cathay Pacific via Hong Kong. A connection adds roughly four to six hours, and often a better seat for less money.
Getting to the islands
There is no non-stop UK service to Phuket, Krabi or Koh Samui. You either connect through Bangkok on a domestic flight, or route via a Gulf or Asian hub straight to Phuket. British Airways codeshares with Bangkok Airways, so a Gatwick booking can carry the Phuket leg on the same ticket. Koh Samui is the exception worth planning around: its airport is served mainly by Bangkok Airways, so the connection needs building into the ticket rather than booked separately.
Flight Times from the UK to Thailand
| Route | Typical journey time | How |
|---|---|---|
| London – Bangkok | Around 11h 50m | Non-stop (Thai Airways, EVA Air, British Airways) |
| London – Bangkok | Around 15–18 hours | One stop via the Gulf or Asia |
| London – Phuket | Around 16–19 hours | One stop, or via Bangkok |
| London – Krabi | Around 17–20 hours | Via Bangkok or a regional hub |
| London – Koh Samui | Around 18–21 hours | Via Bangkok on Bangkok Airways |
Why Thailand Is the Value Pick in Business Class
At around 11 and a half hours direct, Bangkok sits in the sweet spot: long enough that a flat bed genuinely changes the trip, short enough that you land ready to go. Fares are also lower than most long-haul routes of comparable distance, which is why so many first-time business class travellers start here. You get:
- A fully flat bed on every airline we book to Bangkok, including all three non-stop carriers
- Priority check-in, fast-track and a generous baggage allowance for a longer stay
- Lounges at both ends, including Thai Airways' Royal Silk lounges at Suvarnabhumi
- Easy onward connections to the islands, added to the same ticket
Best Time to Fly Business Class to Thailand
Thailand has three broad seasons, and they affect both the weather and the fare. The cool, dry season from November to February is the most popular and the most expensive, with the Christmas and New Year peak selling out months ahead. March to May is hot but dry, and fares soften after Easter. The green season from June to October brings afternoon rain and the best business class fares of the year.
One nuance worth knowing: the coasts are on opposite schedules. The Andaman side — Phuket and Krabi — is wettest from May to October, while Koh Samui, on the Gulf coast, stays drier through those months and gets its heaviest rain from October to December. If your dates are fixed, the island you choose matters more than the month.
For the lowest fares, target May, June and September. Read our guide to business class to Thailand from the UK for a fuller breakdown.
Combining Thailand with the Rest of Asia
Bangkok is one of Asia's best connected hubs, so a two-centre trip costs little more than a return. Popular pairings include Singapore, Hong Kong, Bali and Tokyo, or an open-jaw that flies you into Bangkok and home from Phuket so you never double back. Our best business class airlines to Asia guide compares the carriers.
