Must-do activities include meeting white rhinos, lion encounters and even getting to see some of the most endangered native wildlife, like the kea (a mountain-only parrot). Farmers’ Markets
There are so many farmers’ markets in and around Christchurch that you really are spoiled for choice! Our favourites are the Waipara Valley Farmers’ Market, put on in Amberley every Saturday, as well as the Ohoka market on a Friday morning until 12:30. Riccarton Market is the biggest market of its kind to be found in Christchurch and is on every Sunday from 09:00 until 14:00 – and it’s a great place to go if you’re after a holiday bargain and some souvenirs to take home.
Canterbury Museum
